Frequently asked

What does Pointspector do?

Pointspector helps you get the most out of the credit cards you already have. Add your cards to your wallet, and the app tells you the single best one to use for each spending category — dining, travel, groceries, gas, and more — based on what your rewards are actually worth.

It also tracks welcome offers, models Bilt earnings, and checks whether a specific points redemption is a good deal.

How do I add cards to my wallet?

Open the Cards tab and tap the + button in the top right. Choose your card from the catalog and it's added to your wallet. To remove or reorder cards, tap Edit.

How are "best card" recommendations calculated?

Recommendations are based on each card's earning rate for a category combined with a cents-per-point valuation for its rewards currency. That means the app compares the real value you'd earn — not just the raw multiplier — so a card earning 3x in a more valuable currency can rank above one earning 4x in a less valuable one.

What are welcome offers, and how is the estimated value figured?

The Offers tab lists current sign-up bonuses for cards you don't already have, along with each offer's spend requirement and deadline. Estimated value applies the same cents-per-point valuation used elsewhere in the app.

Offers change often. We update them regularly, but always confirm the current terms on the card issuer's own page before applying.

What is the Bilt optimizer?

Under Optimize → Bilt, you can model your monthly Bilt earnings, compare the available reward modes, and see whether to put everyday spend on Bilt or another card in your wallet. Enter your everyday and rent/mortgage amounts to see the comparison.

How does the redemption value calculator work?

Under Optimize → Value, pick a points currency, enter the number of points a redemption would cost and its cash price, and the app tells you the cents-per-point you're getting — so you can judge whether to pay with points or cash.

Does Pointspector connect to my bank or read my transactions?

No. You choose which cards to add to your wallet yourself. Pointspector doesn't link to your bank accounts and doesn't see your transactions or balances.

Do you earn anything when I apply for a card?

Some "Apply Now" links are personal referral links. If you're approved through one, Pointspector may receive a referral bonus from the card issuer — usually points — at no extra cost to you. Referral links never change which card the app recommends; rankings are based only on rewards value.

How do I delete my account or data?

Email support@pointspector.com from the address on your account and we'll remove your account and associated data.
