01Scope
This policy explains how Pointspector ("Pointspector," "we," "us") handles information when you use the Pointspector mobile app and the website at pointspector.com. By using the app or site, you agree to the practices described here.
02Information we collect
Information you provide. When you create an account, we collect the email address and authentication details used to sign in. As you use the app, we store the choices you make, including:
- The cards you add to your wallet
- Inputs you enter into the optimizer and value tools, such as monthly spend or rent estimates
- Any messages you send us for support
Information collected automatically. Like most apps, we and our infrastructure providers process basic technical data needed to operate and secure the service — for example device type, app version, approximate region, and log data such as IP address and timestamps.
We use Google Firebase for authentication and data storage, and may use Firebase's analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand usage and fix problems. These tools may collect device identifiers and diagnostic data.
03What we don't collect
Pointspector does not connect to your bank or card accounts. You choose which cards to add to your wallet yourself, and we do not collect or have access to:
- Your bank or card login credentials
- Full card numbers, CVVs, or account numbers
- Your transaction history, balances, or statements
04How we use information
- To provide the service — sign you in, save your wallet, and generate card recommendations and value estimates
- To improve the app — understand which features are used and diagnose crashes and errors
- To communicate with you — respond to support requests and send important account or service notices
- To keep the service secure — detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues
06Referral links
Some "Apply Now" links in the app are personal referral links. If you follow one and are approved for a card, Pointspector may receive a referral bonus from the card issuer at no extra cost to you.
When you follow any "Apply Now" link, you leave Pointspector and continue on the card issuer's own website, which is governed by that issuer's privacy policy — not this one. We don't control and aren't responsible for the practices of third-party sites.
07Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your associated data, except where we're required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
08Your choices and rights
You can review and update the information in your wallet at any time inside the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights — including deleting your account and data — email us at support@pointspector.com from the address associated with your account. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
09Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including the security infrastructure provided by Google Firebase, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your data, we can't guarantee absolute security.
10Children's privacy
Pointspector is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use of Pointspector after an update means you accept the revised policy.
